First there was the love of animals…then there was the love of genetics…then there was the love of art and photography. THEN there was my first Mini Dachshund! Zoey was all that and a whole lot more!!! Naturally, I wanted another one just like her…and that’s how it all began. I fell in love with the little legs and the big personality, and the even bigger heart. That was over 29 years ago. She was my first mom Doxie. She gave me the love of breeding. I also loved kitties, and sometimes when the dogs misbehaved, I loved the kitties more. Then when the kitties got out of line, I loved the dogs more! That’s why I started breeding Applehead Siamese kittens. Then I discovered the Bengal breed. A fascinating breed, and SOOOO gorgeous. Just VERY rambunctious, and in learning to do all the athletic things they do, they can be kind of destructive. That is why all my bookcases have glass fronts! I decided about 20 years ago that I wanted to breed a smaller, calmer breed of cat, and set out to research the perfect breed for me. The Munchkin had just come on the scene, and what a purrfect fit for me! Little, sweet, and short legs…my my my…what more could I ask for? Now I have Dachshund dogs and Dachshund cats! I take pride in breeding for small, healthy, and beautiful babies. I have officially stopped breeding Dachshunds, but my breeder friends and I have 3 coats of Dachshunds, the smooth, the longhair, and the wirehair. The two dogs that sleep with me are wirehair-longhair Doxies. I love their smart, adorable, irresistible personalities! I also sometimes sell Mini Schnauzers for my puppy partner, Mary. Occasionally she has a Mini Dachshund or a Mini Poodle or a “designer” litter of puppies for me to sell. My pet kitties are short legged with either short or long coats. I have a wonderful Blue male Minuet breeding kitty named Marley. Now TICA has re-named Napoleons, and they are known as Minuets. Still just as beautiful! I love to add the Ragdoll breed into my Munchkin lines, as I think that makes a sweet breed even sweeter! I also have British Shorthair, Siamese, and Persian breeds in my Munchkin lines. I did go a little sideways and breed a Bengal to a Munchkin, and the result was a sweet and crazy bunch of kittens! Within the last 7 years I purchased a CFA white male Scottish Fold named Quinn, and I kept several of his first female kittens. They later began having litters with my Munchkins. A kitty with short legs AND folded ears is called a “Scottish Kilt”. What unique doll babies! 4-16-15 my first litter was born with Scottish Kilts in it! I fell in love! And lastly I was able to purchase a WONDERFUL Lambkin Seal Mink boy who is now an awesome daddy kitty. A Lambkin is a short-leg kitty with a curly coat. They come from the Selkirk Rex breed. They are very low-shed and a lot more hypoallergenic than a normal kitty. They are superb kitties, really hard to find, probably my favorite breed! Thank goodness my puppy breeding years have ended. Now I can concentrate on improving my kitten environment, and breeding sweet, healthy, gorgeous babies. Also I am always researching all I can on line to be informed about animal health issues, medicines, genetic issues and studies, potty training, and dog and cat psychology. In addition, I try to keep up with the changing laws affecting breeders and pet owners. My goal is to be able to answer any questions puppy and kitten buyers and new owners may have, as well as sharing the things I learn with my other breeder friends. I do still have several friends who breed puppies from my lines, though. After almost 30 years, I plan to continue providing a few awesome puppies occasionally, when I get the opportunity, and breeding Munchkins, Minuets, Scottish Kilts, Scottish Fold, Lambkins, and Selkirk Rex kittens until the end of 2021, then pass the torch on to my circle of breeding friends, and just be available for answering questions to help folks. Maybe eventually I’ll be a “Grandma” and at times will want to be able to travel. One can hope, eh? So for now, I want to provide my buyers and friends with the best babies, and the most updated information that I can. Windrunner is a small family kennel and cattery nestled on top of a quiet, tree-covered hill in Vista, California, about 7 miles inland from the coastline in Oceanside, Ca. We love the quiet tranquility of the hills and trees, the warm breezes, the golden sun, the beautiful sunsets over the distant ocean, and the very starry nights. It’s a perfect beginning for your special baby. Thank you for your interest in Windrunner puppies and kittens. Come by any time, or I will ship if I can, but shipping outside of the USA is VERY time-consuming and usually complicated! I may decline to ship overseas, depending on my schedule.
Sincerely, Charlotte
